The Sentinel project is an activity of the Integrating Climate and Ecosystem Dynamics (ICED) programme, and is collaborating closely with SOOS to contribute to SOOS Theme 6 on the impacts of global change on Southern Ocean ecosystems. This scientific strategy is based on presentations, discussions and outcomes of an International Workshop on Monitoring climate change impacts: Establishing a Southern Ocean Sentinel program, held at CCAMLR Headquarters in Hobart, Australia, 20-24 April 2009, hosted by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre, Australian Antarctic Division, and WWF-Australia.
