APECS ECR Representative Joins Newly Formed SO-OA Hub

It is with great joy that the recently founded Ocean Acidification Hub for the Southern Ocean (SO-OA Hub) welcomes its first APECS ECR Representative, Thiago Monteiro. He will be involved in setting up the new hub by assisting with communications and management of events. The role is also the point of liaison between the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and SOOS. We wish him all the best in his new role and are looking forward to working with him. Congratulations!

Thiago Monteiro is an oceanographer with master’s and doctoral degrees in physical, chemical, and geological oceanography. Currently, Thiago is a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) in Brazil, working on sea-air CO₂ fluxes, the carbonate system, and marine biogeochemistry.
Also involved in a science communication project aimed at raising public awareness of the ocean’s and Antarctica’s importance, his primary interest lies in integrated oceanographic processes.
