At the recent SOOS Symposium 2023, three outstanding early career researchers received awards recognizing their remarkable contributions to their respective fields and acknowledging their professional presentation skills and scientific expertise. These distinguished recipients and their notable achievements were as follows.
Honourable Mention Poster Presentation: Safiyyah Moos Safiyyah Moos earned an Honourable Mention for her poster presentation, titled "Investigating the dynamics and exchanges across the ice-ocean interface in artificial sea ice." Her research delves into the intricacies of ice-ocean interactions, offering insights into the Earth's climate system. Safiyyah's presentation stood out for its depth and insight into this critical area of study.
Honourable Mention Oral Presentation: Ethan Campbell Ethan Campbell received an Honourable Mention for his oral presentation, "Antarctic sea ice formation and melt rates estimated from under-ice Argo observations." His work contributes valuable data on Antarctic sea ice dynamics, a pivotal component of global climate systems. Best Student Presentation: Pauline Latour Pauline Latour received the most prestigous award.
