Amundsen and Bellingshausen Sector (ABS) RWG Welcomes New Leadership Team Members

The Amundsen and Bellingshausen Sector (ABS) Regional Working Group (RWG) are delighted to announce that Xianwei Wang and Alessandro Silvano are joining the working group's leadership team. Alessandro is stepping up from his role as APECS representative having successfully completed his two-year term but remaining in the general leadership team.

Dr. Xianwei Wang, Associate Professor from School of Oceanography, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is an expert with background of Remote sensing and Geodesy. Currently he primarily focuses on polar glacier change and the driven forces investigation under the background of global climate and ocean change. He uses multidisciplinary measurements, such as spaceborne remote sensing, airborne lidar, terrestrial radar interferometer, GPS, ApRES and physical oceanographic data to detect rapid change of polar glaciers, oceans and how oceans interact with glaciers. He has rich experience in polar expedition and has conducted field work in both Antarctica and Greenland for four and three times respectively. He also works as a co-chair of APECS China.
